ASSUMPTIONS

Hello Beautiful people……

The week is coming to an end and I felt I should share something I learnt this week as you have read from the title, today we will be talking about assumptions. Earlier this week I had a meeting with my spiritual father we talked about a lot of things but one of the things he said which stood out for me was the fact that he said he doesn’t assume things, he gets to know for himself what a thing or person is really about before drawing conclusions. ( of course he wasn’t always like that but he built that character overtime). That got me thinking during the week and wanting to make some changes concerning the way I view things, and this topic was birthed.

Have you ever made an assumption? If you have what impact did it have on you? Please leave your comments down below and share your story.. While you are thinking about the question let us quickly look up the meaning of assumption.

noun
1.
a thing that is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof.

every single one of us have or has assumed something either about somebody, a place, a culture, a religious belief, sexuality, occupation, food e.t.c.

I am about to share a very embarrassing story, while writing on this topic I had a picture of that incident I still feel bad about it but hopefully this story touches someone and makes you double check things before making a conclusion.

I really like going to the gym and there was this time my partner and I decided we should get some protein powder to help with our muscle growth, but we kept on hearing about how some people weren’t reacting so well to it and some of them even had some kind of rash all over their body (an allergic reaction) as a result of the protein powder so we both decided not to get the powder. About two months later, We started going to another gym and there was this guy we met there, we have never talked, or even come so close to him. He had some things on his body that looked like spots from a previous rash well we couldn’t really tell because we had never come so close to him , because that might have been awkward. But each time we were at the gym somehow we always ended up talking about that so called rash and how it might have been related to the use of a protein powder. one of this days at the gym I became very curious and went close to him, it turned out he didn’t have spots or rashes on his body, he was just really hairy and from a distance it looked like spots.. I felt really terrible for making an assumption and jumping into a conclusion which I absolutely had no facts on.

We live in a world where people practically live their lives based on assumptions.
It would make a big difference if we make a conscious decision to learn to know people for ourselves not just based on what we have heard, study about a country don’t just conclude a particular country and its citizens are bad just because you met one person who didn’t treat you right, don’t think someone doesn’t like you just because you greeted them and they didn’t give you a reply….and the list goes on.

I have made a lot of assumptions in my life and I am willing to make a change. Are you willing to make a change? It’s never too late to start…

Have a great weekend
