What set of rules does one have to keep to make it to heaven?

If you are reading this thank you for checking out my blog I truly appreciate it…. most probably you were drawn by the title I assure you, that you are at the right place.

So you are curious to know what steps or things you should do so that you will make it to heaven, because of course none of us wants to spend eternity in hell. A lot of us have been told and made to believe.

  • when you give alms or donations to people who are in need you are good.
  • As long as I do not steal, lie, fornicate or commit adultery, cheat etc. … God would definitely smile at me.
  • Growing up in a Christian home and going to church for Sunday services and every other midweek activity in church is a one way ticket to heaven.
  • If I engage myself in the ushering department, choir, sisters/brothers group and all other departments present in my local church, that automatically seals my salvation.
  • Every good person will go to heaven.
  • love is all you need.

There is a lot more on this list but I will stop here. every point I have highlighted above are all good things to do and God will of course be very proud to see you keep his commandments but here is the truth All of this points are useless if you have not Surrendered your life to Jesus.

What does it mean for one to surrender their lives to Jesus?

It means to accept Jesus as your lord and savior, to believe that He came in human form and died for your sins and As a result of his death burial and resurrection you have been made one with Him. If you do not believe in someone, nothing the person does appeals to you, the same is likened to our walk with Jesus, if we do not believe in his Death, burial and resurrection nothing about the Christian faith would make sense… so believing is very important.

What is the way to salvation?

Jesus is the only way to salvation.

john Chapter 14 Verse 6—Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Ephesians Chapter 2 verse 8 and 9—For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

Does being born in a Christian home automatically qualify me for heaven?

No it doesn’t.

Romans 10:10—For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

You can be in church for zillion years, do all the good things you can think of , be born into a Christian home and still not be saved. you were only playing church and being religious. salvation only comes when you believe in your heart on what Jesus did for you and you confess with your mouth (I underlined confess because it is very important) that you accept Him as your lord and savior.

After believing comes Confession, they both go hand in hand… your confession is useless if you do not believe because you are confessing what you do not know. when you believe you confess because you now have an understanding of that which you are confessing.

How do I accept Jesus into my life?

Acknowledge your sins, Now that you believe in your heart that he died for you, Confess with your mouth that you accept Jesus as your lord and savior and invite Him in.

congratulations you are saved!!!

Please feel free to leave your comments, and questions relating to faith which you would want me to talk about.

Have a blessed weekend
