In the time past and even currently we have heard people describe God using so many terms

  • healer, comforter, redeemer, provider, to mention but a few.

All of these names used to describe God meant something to the individual/s and had their significance.

If for instance you have never had an asthmatic attack, you cannot in any way be able to relate or feel the pain of someone who has, the best you can do is to sympathize with them. The same thing can be said with our relationship with God, you cannot feed only on the experiences of others.

God isn’t just  something talked about, He is an experience a daily one at that.

One scripture that really fascinates me is Matthew Chapter 16 verse 13-17

13 When Jesus came to Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who are the people saying I[b] am?”

14 “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist; some, Elijah; some, Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.”

15 Then he asked them, “Who do you think I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered, “The Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 “God has blessed you, Simon, son of Jonah,” Jesus said, “for my Father in heaven has personally revealed this to you—this is not from any human source

The disciples had a lot to say when they were asked about peoples opinion/testimony about Jesus, But Jesus was more concerned about their knowledge of Him.

God means different things to different people and a true experience of Him can only come from a place of revelation.

If you have been feeding off peoples experiences it is never too late to ask God to give you a better knowledge of Him.

There is always something new to know about God and until we die we can never stop learning.

Why do you need to experience God for yourself.

  • So you can relate with Him better. Hebrews Chapter 4 verse 15 says

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.

Jesus came down to earth and took the form of man so he could go through everyday life like us, experience our pains and suffering and by so doing He relates with us even better.

  • Your Trust in God Increases. Psalm 118 verse 6

The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?

  • In a world full of false teachers and so many doctrines, Knowing God on an experiential ground shields us from such people and prevents us from being deceived.

 Ephesians Chapter 4 verse 14

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.

  • Prayers, Bible study, worship… becomes more meaningful because you are communing with someone you know.
  • Talking and sharing about the love of Christ becomes easier.

Prayer point: Jesus reveal who you are to me, i want to know you more intimately.

Do you have an experiential knowledge of God? Feel free to leave your comments.

Have a great day ahead.

Stay motivated…

  1. Spot on yet again.
Sometimes I want others to think of God the way I do. Thank you for reminding me that He is not all and the same to all of us. We are all unique and have unique relationships.
He is Mercy. He is strength. He is goodness.

  2. This is so true. Expecting that God will reveal Himself to us in the same way He does to someone else can limit our personal experience of Him. He isn’t confined within time and space as we are. If we could define Him and box His personality, He wouldn’t be the God who’s enough for each and everyone of us that He is. But because He is everything and anything, He will always be more than sufficient for us. That’s an amazing thing to know 😊

  3. I’m definitely sharing this on my whatsapp status! Many times it feels as if you read my mind even if we haven’t met before☺ Another beautiful post from you. You always bless my heart with your posts! More grace to write darling❤❤❤❤

  4. God is the “person” I talk to when I need to release the feelings I’m not ready to talk to anyone else about. He listens sometimes I think he guides me when I am unsure.
